Our local newspaper FINALLY printed my letter to the editor about our terrific arts scene in Sioux Falls. They edited out several things, even though this is the second time I submitted this because the first version was ‘TOO LONG’. In classic ANGUS LIAR style, they printed the letter, but didn’t post it on their website. Because they know as I do, more people read their website then the actual paper. <\/em><\/p>\n

Here it is (The unedited version):<\/em><\/p>\n

I was a little surprised last Thursday when I opened the front page of the
\nLINK and read Mr. Morast\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s column. It is no secret that the wealthy, very
\nunimaginative, uncooperative and conservative control the artistic development
\nof this city. What surprised me was that the Argus would publish such a column?<\/p>\n

I have written several letters to the Argus explaining the nepotism that
\nexists in our public art programs and development, and very few of them get
\npublished. For instance:<\/p>\n

– The Washington Pavilion\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s board of director\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s president tried to censor my
\nexhibit by stifling promotion.<\/p>\n

– The Mayor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Office (Munson) mysteriously lost my Visual \u00c2\u00a0Arts Commission
\napplication.<\/p>\n

– The SculptureWalk director tried to get me fired from my job as retribution
\nfor critical comments I made publicly about the exhibit.<\/p>\n

– When I voiced my concerns to a city employee working closely with the
\nSculptureWalk committee about the way I was treated, he told me that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Artists
\nare whiners.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

– An ex-president of a South Dakota arts organization and self-
\nproclaimed \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcartist advocate\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 said the public doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have a say in publicly
\nfunded art projects when that money is intertwined with private funds.<\/p>\n
