I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t live in your district, but I have to respond to some comments you
\nrecently made in a television interview. You felt it was \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcFAIR\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 to tax cable
\nbecause it is a luxury. I couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t agree more that we should tax luxury items.
\nHere is a list of luxury items I would love to see taxed MORE in Sioux Falls:<\/p>\n
– Automobiles over $60,000 that are not used for business purposes
\n– Motorcycles
\n– Boats
\n– RV\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s
\n– Half-million dollor homes and up
\n– Event tickets (Arena, Pavilion)
\n– Increase Hotel\/Motel room tax<\/p>\n
I think taxing these items would be more fair then taxing cable. Cable is
\nsometimes the ONLY luxury people can afford, not to mention it is not always a
\nluxury, for instance I got it as part of a package with my internet that I use
\nfor my home business, it would have been the same price without cable.<\/p>\n
We need to start moving away from regressive taxes and start moving towards
\nluxury taxes.<\/p>\n
