Maybe these are good enough to get into Arts Night next year! I could go buy a $5 frame on sale at Hobby Lobby and print it out on watercolor paper for another $5, and they can try to sell my $10 donation for $400. Of course I would have to buy a nice silver sharpie ($2) and sign my name really big on it.

Well I can finally say I have closed the book. I have given up pursuing the Arts Night Jurors names. I sent the Washington Pavilion a letter yesterday to the Executive Director Steve Hoffman, I also CC the following:
Randell Beck, Executive Editor, Argus Leader
Robert Morast, Link Editor, Argus Leader
David Merhib, Director, Washington Pavilion Visual Arts Center
Ronald M. Moquist, Chair, Board of Trustees, Washington Pavilion Management
I needed some finality to it. I will post the letter sometime tommorrow. But I can tell you this, I am disappointed not only that the Pavilion chose secrecy over respect but I am even more disappointed that our local newspaper defended their position (supposedly the Argus either has the names or was offered them and did not print them). I really don’t know who to believe, between all the people involved I think at least a few of them at the top are flat out lying.
Oh well, I tried my best, and I think I’m better artist for it.

This letter published in the Argus Leader Saturday, August 11:
It is no doubt that JazzFest has been successful for several years and enriches our community. The organization that hosts the event, Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society, works in conjunction with many local artists to make JazzFest and several of their staple programs sensational.
Working with a modest budget and staff, SFJB compensates local musicians, writers and visual artists for assisting with their programming. Besides JazzFest, SFJB also calls on local talent to help with the Jazz Diversity Project, their concert series and Jazz Appreciation Month.
I have had the pleasure of helping with the visual identity of JazzFest over the past two years, and I can honestly say Executive Director, Rob Joyce and Executive Assistant Katrina Lehr-Mckinney have only treated me with respect and listened when I have offered advice and ideas.
It is refreshing to know that there is an arts organization in Sioux Falls that understands the best way to foster the arts in the community is by tapping into local talent and compensating them fairly and treating them with utmost admiration.
I commend the work they do for the community. It’s been an honor working with them and I look forward to continuing that relationship.

Trust me, I try to avvoid party politics as much as possible, but more and more, I like John’s ideas. I think one of the main reason’s I am supporting John is;
1) Does NOT take lobbyist money (Hillary does)
2) Only candidate that has a Universal healthcare plan.
3) Oldest daughter is HOT
He is gaing steam in polls, and I think if he wins Iowa or at least places high, he has a chance. The media will bury Obama, we all know this. Romney will probably win on the GOP side, and a Morman doesn’t have a chance in Hell of winning the presidency.

I would like to thank everyone who made it to the cartoonist reception yesterday at the Horsebarn, and ALL the cartoonists that were BRAVE enough to show their face! Ha, Ha. I only say that because many of the people looking at the toons asked who drew them. Tim, John, Jackie and myself were there to answer questions, etc. Many compliments to go around.
