NYC saxophonist and Sioux City trumpeter reunite at Touch of Â
Europe Friday, August 24 – 9:00pm to midnight:
New York City based Saxophonist and composer Adam Niewood, will be Â
stopping through Sioux Falls South Dakota, to reunite with old Â
friend and colleague (the Iowa Native, and Jazz Trumpet Virtuoso)Â Â
Justin Kisor.
Adam Niewood and Justin Kisor met while both being chosen as the Â
first 18 students to attend the Juilliard Conservatory of Music’s Â
fledging Jazz Program in 2001.  Two years later, Adam and Justin Â
recorded a CD for the Native Language Label.
Fast forward to the present: Niewood just finished wrapping up the Â
final stages on his most recent recording, produced by Bill Â
Goodwin and tracked June 13th -15th, 2007 @ Skyline Pro.
The recording will be released later this year as a double CDÂ Â
“Adam Niewood & his Rabble Rousers Volume I & II”
“It is going to be wonderful to play with Justin again.  I’ve Â
missed his presence in NYC ever since he relocated back to his Â
home in Iowa.  I’ve never felt more comfortable playing with Â
another horn player.  Effortless phrasing, articulation, and Â
intonation … I can just close my eyes and play, and it’s as Â
it Justin can read my mind.”
Niewood will be bringing an eclectic group to back up Kisor and Â
himself: Minneapolis based Bass player Adam Linz, and Drummer Â
Alden Ikeda, and from New York City – Jesse Lewis (a regular Â
member of Niewood’s group the Rabble Rousers) playing guitar.
“Jesse spent the better part of a decade living and working as a Â
professional guitar player in New Orleans, before making a Â
permanent move to New York.”
