NYC saxophonist and Sioux City trumpeter reunite at Touch of
Europe Friday, August 24 – 9:00pm to midnight:
New York City based Saxophonist and composer Adam Niewood, will be
stopping through Sioux Falls South Dakota, to reunite with old
friend and colleague (the Iowa Native, and Jazz Trumpet Virtuoso)
Justin Kisor.
Adam Niewood and Justin Kisor met while both being chosen as the
first 18 students to attend the Juilliard Conservatory of Music’s
fledging Jazz Program in 2001.  Two years later, Adam and Justin
recorded a CD for the Native Language Label.
Fast forward to the present: Niewood just finished wrapping up the
final stages on his most recent recording, produced by Bill
Goodwin and tracked June 13th -15th, 2007 @ Skyline Pro.
The recording will be released later this year as a double CD
“Adam Niewood & his Rabble Rousers Volume I & II”
“It is going to be wonderful to play with Justin again.  I’ve
missed his presence in NYC ever since he relocated back to his
home in Iowa.  I’ve never felt more comfortable playing with
another horn player.  Effortless phrasing, articulation, and
intonation … I can just close my eyes and play, and it’s as
it Justin can read my mind.”
Niewood will be bringing an eclectic group to back up Kisor and
himself: Minneapolis based Bass player Adam Linz, and Drummer
Alden Ikeda, and from New York City – Jesse Lewis (a regular
member of Niewood’s group the Rabble Rousers) playing guitar.
“Jesse spent the better part of a decade living and working as a
professional guitar player in New Orleans, before making a
permanent move to New York.”
